A little motivation before we continue the journey
Welcome back…(Click for previous post…https://everevolvingmasterpiece.wordpress.com/2018/11/29/journey-to-his-birth/)
Joseph was deeply worried as he loved Mary. The news broke him to his marrows. He felt betrayed to think he was going to spend the rest of his life with her. She was the only lady he had ever loved and had planned his future with her. She was beautiful, hard-working, an early riser, strong and she spoke wise words. Women her age group always called on her for advice. In fact, they were envious of her relationship with Joseph. The both of them were pure and honest. Never found in compromising situations or suspicious areas. You could never hear a bad report about them. They were the definition of a godly-relationship.
But this, this was too much to bear. The news spread like wild fire and he couldn’t bear to be seen with her especially since he wasn’t the one that got her pregnant. His friends teased him and others mocked him. Joseph the saint, haba, sharp shooter, goal scorer.
On this particular night, he slept troubled and almost immediately as he closed his eyes, he was awed by the glowing, amazing creature that appeared to him. The Angel spoke to him in his dream saying: “Joseph, son of David, don’t hesitate to get married. Mary’s pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus -‘God saves’-. This would bring the prophet’s embryonic sermon to full term: Watch for this-a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son; They will name him Immanuel”
Then Joseph woke up sweating and panting. The Lord had just spoken to Him and He did exactly what He was told to do.
The next day, he travelled to Aunt Elizabeth-Zechariah’s house to see Mary. Amazingly, Mary looked more beautiful than ever and had the pregnancy glow. Joseph felt a tear run down his cheeks.
Right there, he went on a knee and asked Mary to be his wife. She said yes and with tears of joy, they hugged. Mary stayed a few more days before travelling down with Joseph to finalize their marriage.
Their wedding was attended by very few friends. As quiet as possible.
One would think they lived happily ever after.
Right from his intrauterine life, he was despised. His Parents were the talk of the town and often times, she heard the women in the market gossip when she passed with her gravidly enlarged abdomen; “how can they claim to be followers of the word, commit sexual immorality and lie to us that it was the Holy Spirit that came upon her with child, ahnahn, who in this generation says that. Maybe there are no more lies to tell” said one of the women another said probably that was why they hurried their wedding so as to cover their shame. As and they all laughed It sounded so funny. Damn! They are just exceptional.
Gradually, her friends began to reduce in number till no one was left. Who wanted to be seen with a “sinner” like herself and Joseph.
A kick in her abdomen brought her back to reality. This was one of the few times He moved. She barely experienced pregnancy symptoms like most women did and all her antenatal visits had not been adversely eventful.
Mary could not wait for the day He’d be born. She felt after His birth, they’d be a little show from Heaven so everyone would believe that they were not lying.
And that time was just around the corner
